The most popular videos of 2017
Every year since 2010, YouTube Rewind publishes the lists of top trending videos of the year at YouTube, and from 2011 on they also publish an all-star, all-encompasing video. You can watch here the one from 2017:
There are specific lists for most countries, and then the global list which is of course for the entire globe. For 2017 there are two global, top-ten video lists:
At We study English we focus on, of course, English. On the top-trending video list all videos are in English language except for the first one which is in Thai language. On the top-trending music video list only four videos are in English - the remaining six are in Spanish, including the unavoidable number 1, Despacito. Should we take this list as a foundation for language learning, we would conclude that the English speakers should learn Spanish rather than the other way round.
